After 26 years, the iconic Suzuki Cappuccino is poised for a return. This revival is part of a collaboration between Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu, promising a modern twist on the beloved sports car.

The revamped Cappuccino will be larger than its predecessor, measuring approximately 4 meters in length, 1,700 mm in width, and 1,230 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,480 mm. Despite the size increase, it will retain a lightweight profile at around 1,100 kg. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic.

Suzuki Cappuccino will be a RWD setup

Departing from its original 657-cc engine, the new Cappuccino will feature a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with RWD setup. This engine, expected to also power the next-gen Toyota Starlet/Glanza, aims for around 150 horsepower, drawing from the technology of Toyota’s GR Yaris and GR Corolla.

With shared development and production costs across models from Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu, the new Cappuccino is expected to achieve significant sales. The production models will cater to a wider audience, ensuring the Cappuccino’s legacy endures in the modern automotive market.

Suzuki Cappuccino launch in India?

Enthusiasts can look forward to the new Suzuki Cappuccino hitting the market in 2027 in Japan, offering a blend of nostalgic charm and contemporary performance. However, Suzuki Cappuccino fans in India will be left disappointed as Maruti Suzuki has no interest in launching it in India.

Despite the Cappuccino being available in India between 1991 and 1997, Maruti Suzuki mainly focuses on family cars, not two-seater sports cars. This strategy was evident with the Jimny, where the company opted to launch a 5-door version instead of the 2-door variant.
